Job Description

Jack Porter is seeking a 3D White Modeler to help shape the earliest stage of the spaces we design and build. Our work brings together strategy, storytelling, environmental design, fabrication and technology for collegiate and professional sports venues, university campuses, corporate headquarters and other branded environments.

This is not a rendering or visualization role. You will build clean, accurate white models in SketchUp that give our design team a solid spatial foundation to develop from. You will be a hands-on modeler responsible for taking a brief, sketch or architectural file and turning it into an organized model that someone else can pick up and build on.

You will work with our design team as a 1099 contractor, partnering with designers and project leaders across Jack Porter to translate early ideas and existing conditions into usable 3D space. This role augments our team.

Unlike many contract modeling roles, we aim to have this as an ongoing relationship, not a one-off project. The work is not full-time and volume will follow our project pipeline from month to month, but we expect it to be steady. We are looking for a seasoned practitioner who can take a brief, ask the right questions and deliver clean models with minimal hand-holding.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build pre-conceptual white models of interior and exterior spaces in SketchUp from project briefs, sketches, and reference material.
• Convert and optimize Revit and AutoCAD files into clean, lightweight SketchUp models ready for design development.
• Model existing conditions from architectural drawings, site plans, and field documentation.
• Organize every file to Jack Porter's standards, including scale, tags, naming conventions, and component structure.
• Turn revisions quickly as design direction evolves.

WHO YOU ARE

• 4+ years of professional SketchUp modeling experience in architecture, interiors, exhibit, retail, or environmental design.
• A portfolio that shows white model or massing work, not just finished renderings.
• Working proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD, including converting and cleaning up complex architectural files.
• You read architectural drawings accurately and think spatially.
• You build models that are disciplined and easy for others to work in.
• You take a brief and run with it. You ask sharp questions early and turn in models that need refinement, not rebuilds.
• You manage your own workload and deadlines, and you provide your own hardware and software licenses.

EXTRA CREDIT

• Experience modeling for sports venues, higher education, retail, or experiential projects.
• Experience working with architects or design-build firms.
• Quick sketching ability to confirm intent before modeling.
• Familiarity with Twinmotion, Lumion, or similar rendering tools.
